Smart Living Media and the Smart Living Foundation
The Smart Living Foundation is a Vancouver BC based social enterprise and 'more-than-profit' corporation created to promote public education and awareness of environmental, community and business initiatives by utilizing video storytelling resources. Its focus is in showcasing creative smart living ideas and innovative solutions being put into action locally and globally.
On a national level, the Smart Living Foundation will use its funds to help filmmakers finance productions that promote large scale public awareness of - environmental, social and economic- sustainability topics that highlight individuals, organizations and businesses who are pioneering innovative approaches that address sustainability questions and present far reaching answers. On the local level, the Foundation will be allocating a portion of its funds to non-profit programs that concentrate on helping Vancouver inner city youth gain employment and life skills via film and technology training, with an emphasis on sustainability themed film projects.
The Smart Living Foundation was created by Smart Living Media Inc. as part of their commitment to encourage the creation of audio visual works that inform, engage and educate the public about sustainability through the infinite creative wealth of real world stories about everyday people, their creative solutions and transformative actions, and our common interests in shaping a better world for today and for the children of the future.
The Smart Living Foundation is working in cooperation with the William Vince Foundation. William Vince was the founder of Infinity Features Entertainment and producer of International feature films including the 2006 Oscar winning film Capote. Vince was a visionary leader in both Vancouver filmmaking and inner city development and was an early and ardent supporter of the Smart Living Media concept and vision.
Smart Living Media and the Smart Living Foundation also maintain a close working relationship with District 319 a state of the art theatre and media presentation centre in Vancouver's inner city, and its inner city community youth program Intersections Media.
